Marine species introduction via reproduction and its response to ship transit routes

چکیده
The introduction of nonindigenous species (NIS) threatens global ecosystems and results primarily from human transportation trade activities. Although some NIS can disperse immediately upon arrival (for example, mobile species), actual inoculation for other (sessile) require a reproductive event to produce propagules that establish. potential, however, vary with environmental conditions experienced during transit differ substantially by route. We propose variation in responses, both across routes, is critical but overlooked driver invasions. illustrate these concepts using vessel biofouling organisms, which are exposed vastly different transport the world’s oceans. Current knowledge gaps prevent precise predictions potential be introduced via reproduction. Integrating into management strategies key limiting spread, particularly as climate change novel events continue alter networks. Front Ecol Environ 2022

15 صفحه اولTracking marine alien species by ship movements.
Under human influence, plants, animals, and microbes are spreading beyond their native ranges faster and farther than ever before. Rates of invasion are increasing worldwide, especially in large aquatic systems (1). Many of these alien species appear to be innocuous, whereas others cause substantive impacts on biodiversity, ecosystem services, and human and animal health (2, 3). Effective manag...
متن کاملconstruction and validation of translation metacognitive strategy questionnaire and its application to translation quality
like any other learning activity, translation is a problem solving activity which involves executing parallel cognitive processes. the ability to think about these higher processes, plan, organize, monitor and evaluate the most influential executive cognitive processes is what flavell (1975) called “metacognition” which encompasses raising awareness of mental processes as well as using effectiv...
Identifying the most suitable species of Iranian medical leeches for commercialization its reproduction and breeding.
This study aimed to identify the most suitable species of Iranian medical leeches for aquaculture through a comparative study of growth, survival and reproduction of Hirudo medicinalis and Hirudo orientalis, which are native to the southern shores of the Caspian Sea and do not have sufficient information about their biology. Medicinalis growth was significantly faster (p<0.05) until the fifth m...
متن کاملiran, afghanistan and transit routes during the 2nd pahlavi period
afghanistan is a land-locked country that depends on its neighboring countries to transit essential commodities. iran, for its proximity and access to the high seas, seems to have the most economical route to meet afghanistan’s needs. however, this country did not pursue such an economical route due to its western tendencies and its foreign policies which were completely different with iran’s. ...
